Sonata Acoustic Doors by Sound Control are standardised as Rw40 and Rw45 Acoustic Rating. These ratings can be supplied in single leaf, double or sliding door configurations. Tests have been undertaken at the National Acoustics Laboratory as well as in-situ testing where possible. Acoustic Door types are provided in either timber or steel construction with various options for surface finishes available. Typically Timber Rw45 door systems are used in lecture, conference, interview and recording rooms. the application for steel doors is mainly in industrial situations, but they are used commercially for application where isolation greater that Rw45 is required especially in audiometric booths, performing arts theatres and recording studios. In exceptional cases, 2 sets of timber doors in series can also be used in  critical situations. Door thicknesses range from 50mm – 110mm.

Sound Control's Sonata Acoustic Doors can be provided in Timber or Steel with a range of varied finishes optional. Inclusions with Door Supply:

  • 4 sided heavy duty door frames
  • S/steel heavy duty broad butt hinges or ball bearing type hinges for steel door types
  • Acoustic seals to frame and door edges
  • Observation windows
  • veneer and metal finishes.

Typically, door types are supplied to site fitted or pre-hung within the frame. Seals and hardware are trial fitted and removed for shipping. Site installation instructions are provided with optional supervision and installation services available. If required, site in-situ noise testing and reporting can be provided as a service

Sliding Sonata Acoustic Doors present a series of engineering challenges and require a thorough approach to design and selection of door configurations and drive arrangements. Either manual or electronic operating systems can be provided. Door dimensions vary with sizes upwards of 9 metres high currently operational in the field. Typically pelmets and recessed thresholds in floors along with absorptive panels fitted around door opening perimeter provide the solution for sealing systems of these robust door types. Speciality finishes can be provided once door systems are hung and operational.
