Sonata Exhaust Silencers, or Mufflers as they are commonly known, are suitable for noise control of the exhaust gas on two or four stroke engines, rotary and reciprocating engines and vacuum pump intake and discharge lines. Combinations of reactive and absorptive designs provide maximum attenuation at all frequency bands dependent on applications and pressure losses tolerated. Reductions of 40-45dB(A) can be achieved with speciality designs. Sound Control's extensive range of Sonata Silencers (Mufflers) can be custom designed to ensure optimum acoustic performance for every application.
Sonata Silencers for use on dry engine exhausts of reciprocating engines include the reactive type that reduces low-frequency noise, and the absorptive silencers for the most effective means of reducing high-frequency noise. More commonly we combine both types for a "super-critical" silencer. These are used in environmentally sensitive and work-place areas that provides higher broadband attenuation. Optional extras available include: Stainless Steel Fabrication / Protective Heat Paint Systems / Flexible Bellows / Matching Flanges / Hydrostatic Testing / Absorptive Tail Pipes / Lifting and Mounting Brackets.
As we have over 30 years experience in this area, we can design and construct a Silencer to best suit the majority of applications.
The two main types of Sonata Exhaust Silencers used on internal combustion engines are reactive and absorptive chambered silencers. Sound Control's standard Sonata Muffler designs are intended for use on dry engine exhaust systems. Standard Silencers are available to meet critical, residential, industrial, or your specific acoustic performance needs. Once the noise attenuation requirements are established, the silencer selection should include the following requirements: minimum backpressure, physical size to space available, inlet and outlet connections.
